IIIM Jaipur Hosts "The Next Chapter", an Inspirational Session with Content Writer and Poet Ms. Sonal Sharma

Students of MBA, MCA, BBA and BCA explore confusion, comparison, failure and the choice to write their own story

IIIM (International School of Informatics & Management), Jaipur, formerly India International Institute of Management, organised an inspirational session titled "The Next Chapter" on Thursday, 3 September 2026. Led by Ms. Sonal Sharma, Content Writer & Poet, the session brought together students of the MBA, MCA, BBA and BCA programmes for an open, interactive conversation about uncertainty, growth, and finding one's own way.

Ms. Sharma described "the next chapter" as that strange period of life when a person is "neither where you were nor where you want to be." Rather than delivering a conventional motivational talk urging students to "dream big" or "believe in themselves," she framed the session as an invitation to pause, reflect, and ask honest questions about the paths they are on.

The conversation was built around six themes, each posed as a question students often ask themselves: confusion(What do I really want?), comparison (Why does everyone seem ahead of me?), changing plans (What if the path I chose no longer feels right?), failure and rejection (Does one setback define me?), expectations (Am I living my story or someone else's version of it?), and choice (What will I write in my next chapter?).

Among the key messages she shared with students was a caution against constant comparison: "Comparison is dangerous because we compare our behind-the-scenes with someone else's highlights." On dealing with setbacks, she offered a reframe drawn from her craft as a writer: "Failure is not the end of the story. Sometimes, it is simply a page we need to edit."

In keeping with the session's theme, "You are not late. You are still becoming," Ms. Sharma encouraged students to recognise that they do not need their entire life figured out to take the next meaningful step. What matters, she said, is the willingness to turn the page, because the next chapter "isn't waiting to be discovered. It is waiting to be written."
