IIIM Centre for Health and Happiness celebrated World Mental Health Day on October 10th in collaboration with MPOWER – an initiative of the Aditya Birla Education Trust. The event, coordinated by the COPE Committee (Counselling and Outreach for Peer Empowerment), aimed to foster mental well-being, encourage emotional expression, and spread awareness about the importance of mental health among students.
The celebration featured a series of engaging activities — Awareness Session, Movie Screening, Wellness Booth, and ‘Letting Go and Rising High’ — each thoughtfully designed to promote mindfulness, creativity, and emotional balance within the campus community. Students from BBA, BCA, MBA, and MCA participated enthusiastically, making the day both memorable and meaningful.
The day began with an insightful Awareness Session titled “Unmute Your Mind”, focusing on understanding the nuances of mental health and emotional wellness. Led by Ms. Riya Sharma, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and Mr. Arnab Ghosh, Marketing Manager, Health Genne, the session emphasized recognizing causes of mental unwellness, accepting emotional challenges, and adopting proactive self-care practices. Students were also introduced to the Health Genne app, highlighting how technology can aid in tracking and improving mental well-being. The session set a positive and reflective tone for the day’s celebrations.
Following the session, a Movie Screening of Inside Out 2 was organized in the college auditorium. The film beautifully depicted the interplay of emotions such as joy, sadness, anxiety, and envy, helping students reflect on the importance of emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
This was followed by the Wellness Booth, set up in collaboration with MPOWER. The booth offered engaging activities like Mandala Art, Cognitive Bias, Feeling Word Search, and Dots Activity, each promoting creativity, focus, and mindfulness. The initiative created a vibrant and interactive space where students expressed themselves freely while learning about mental wellness.
The celebration concluded with a heart-warming activity, “Letting Go and Rising High,” held in the campus garden. Students penned down their negative thoughts on sticky notes, attached them to white and blue helium balloons, and released them into the sky — symbolizing emotional release, positivity, and personal growth.
The event successfully reinforced the importance of nurturing mental health through awareness, shared experiences, mindful practices, and the meaningful integration of technology in emotional well-being.
