Workshop on "Demystifying Business Model Canvas"

On 05th August 2022, a workshop on "Demystifying Business Model Canvas" was organised by E-Igniters, ISIM's E-cell, TEIIC- The Incubation Cell, and the Institution's Innovation Council.
The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Sheenu Jain, Co-founder of the IIHMR Foundation, Chair –CIIE, and Associate Professor, IIHMR University, Jaipur.
Dr. Jain shared the nitty-gritty of preparing a business plan with lucid illustrations from the global business arena. She shared that the Business Model Canvas is a strategic management template that helps businesses to describe, design and analyse their business plan.
Dr. Sheenu further elucidated that the canvas was invented by Alex Osterwalder, a Swiss business theorist and entrepreneur, as a part of his PhD research. The Business Model Canvas was elaborated in a book called Business Model Generation, co-authored with his graduate supervisor Yves Pigneur, a Belgian computer scientist. The book was also co-created by 470 practitioners from 45 countries.
The Business Model Canvas methodology helps start-ups visualise and position their business plan for growth and innovation.
Dr. Jain concluded the workshop by emphasising that failing to innovate successfully could mean closing one's doors in today's business and technology climate. To achieve organisational innovation, every facet of a business needs to move together in the same direction, which can be difficult without a clear vision of the business model and how activities should be aligned.
