Workshop on Understating Investors' mindset towards Startup

On 7th October 2022, a workshop on "Understating Investors' mindset towards Startup" was organized by E-Igniters, ISIM's E-cell, TEIIC- The Incubation Cell, and the Institution's Innovation Council. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Mahavir Pratap Sharma, Chair, TiE India Angels and RAIN (Rajasthan Angels).

Mr. Mahavir Pratap Sharma shared that India's startup ecosystem is going through a paradigm shift in many ways. One such shift is the rise of angel investors from places beyond significant cities. Mr. Sharma said it is essential to understand that investors are looking to help the teams and entrepreneurs back with one goal: to make money. This doesn't mean that ethics and morality don't come into play when investing as a business angel, Venture Capital firm or through equity crowdfunding platforms or syndicates. Of course, they do, but investors want to make money, so they invest their money in risky technology companies.
There isn't an investment thesis for every single investor out there. Still, in most cases, it all comes down to understanding what variables will make a particular project or Startup attractive to an investor the team, the product, the size of the market or the stage they are at.

In the end, Mr. Sharma said that being more agile as a startup founder means funding iteratively and trying alternatives without making irreversible commitments.
