The 11th North India Regional Conference, Jaipur
Innovative Practices to Mitigate Poverty and Climate Change in India

International School of Informatics & Management, Jaipur in collaboration with
India Development Coalition of America, organized 11th North India Conference on
February 25-26, 2022. The theme for two days conference was “Innovative
Practices to Mitigate Poverty and Climate Change in India”. In the inaugural
session Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director, ISIM welcomed the participants of the
conference. In his address he focused on the prime aim of the conference that is
to provide platform to social entrepreneurs, activists, academicians,
researchers and the stakeholders to mull over the issue of curbing poverty and
mitigating climate change. Dr. Mohan Jain, Founder and Trustee, IDCA, USA
provided impetus to the conference and suggested ways that can bring positive
change in the society.
The chief guest for the inaugural function was Mr. Mayur Dixit, IAS, Collector &
Magistrate, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. He emphasized that every citizen should
think of local solutions to help eradicate poverty at local level and gradually
these solutions can be expanded and replicated to national level. Mr. Dixit also
highlighted the role of every citizen of the country for combating climate
change and its effects. He stated that the consequences of climate change hit
the most vulnerable more badly. The Keynote speaker for the event was Major Dr.
Meeta Singh, Chairperson, Dignity of Girl Child Foundation and Guest of Honour
for the event was PadmaShri Shri Tilak Gitai, Master Craftsman & Sculpture. The
inaugural ceremony ended with the National Anthem.
The first day of the conference had two sessions related to “Climate Change
Mitigation”, and “Innovative Practices in Water”. The day witnessed expert talks
by eminent personalities such as Mr. Sumit Singh, Advisor, Strategy &
Cooperative, National Cooperative Union of India, New Delhi; Mr. Narendra Kumar,
Public Health Activist & Human Rights Defender, New Delhi; Mr. Swapnil Dubey,
Principal Consultant, Insight Development Consulting Group, New Delhi; Ms. Seema
Saini, Founder, Green World Foundation, Jaipur; Mr. Arjun Devasi, Farmer, Sikar,
Jaipur.
Day one ended with Felicitation Ceremony of Merit Holders of the MBA and MCA
Examinations of the Rajasthan Technical University, Kota for the session
2019-2020. Ms. Radhika Goyal was awarded with The Chancellor Gold Medal for
securing highest marks in the post-graduation program and gold medal for
securing highest marks in
MCA examination. MBA 2020 Merit Holders were Ms. Kanika Khandelwal, Ms. Sonal
Saxena, Ms. Simran Tilwani. MCA 2020 merit holders were Ms. Radhika Goyal, Ms.
Shruti Gupta, Ms. Khushboo Choudhary, Ms. Shruti Rathore.
The second day of the conference had sessions related to “Emerging Prospects in
Education and Livelihood”. The speakers for these sessions were Mr. Varun
Sharma, Project Coordinator, ARAVALI (Association for Rural Advancement through
Voluntary Action and Local Involvement); Mr. Vikram Raghav, State Technical
Consultant, Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Jaipur; Ms. Evadeep Saxena,
Founder, Saksham, Jaipur; Ms. Radhika Balasariya, Founder, Project Life Force.
The concluding session had NGO Field project presentations by the students of
ISIM on “Citizenship & Social Entrepreneurship” through which they showcased
their hands on experience with voluntary sector. Among the eleven selected
presentations, the top three were rewarded with cash prizes of Rs. 6000/-, Rs.
4000/- and Rs. 2000/- respectively. The winners were Reshal Agarwal, Ramleen
Kaur, Nupur Agarwal, Ekta Khandelwal, Kritika Pareek for their project with
ARAVALI.
Manvi Agarwal, Vanshika Vijay, Kratika Gupta, Anushikha Saini, Yashi Sharma,
Shweta Kalani stood second for their project with ‘Praveenlata Sansthan’.
And third position was grabbed by Yash Khandelwal, Ayush Khandelwal, Khushi
Khandelwal, Kashish Khandelwal, Palak Gupta for their project with Praveenlata
Sansthan.
Dr. Sandeep Vyas, Associate Professor, ISIM and Ms. Shilpi Goswami, Programme
Head, FM Radio 7 were the judges for the competition. The conference culminated
with conference report by Dr. Mohan Jain. He encouraged the students to
contribute to society by lifelong learning and helping others live a better
life. He quoted examples of Mahatma Gandhi & Swami Vivekananda and said that
they did good to people not for their selfish aims but for the good of the
society
