On April 7,
2022, ISIM organised a Faculty Development Program on 'Writing Quality Research:
Do's and don'ts' with Dr. Hardeep Chahal, Professor and Head of the Department
of Commerce and Former Rector Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu.
Dr. Chahal said that obtaining publication for one's work in a prestigious
journal is challenging. It is an arduous process, right, from deciding your
topic and methodology of research to targeting the right journal and finally
framing the paper to the requirements of the editors and the reviewers.
She highlighted the importance of research publications in reputed and high
impact journals and the procedure to be followed while sending research papers
to ABDC/SCI journals. In addition, she laid stress on preparing a good abstract
with keywords, literature review, research design, and tools for practical data
analysis. Dr. Chahal stated that the latest statistical tools and software
should be used for data analysis and should be based on the study's objectives.
The journey may involve two to three revisions, but the researcher should keep
patience.
The session received overwhelming feedback from the participants. Participants
shared that they got an in-depth understanding about research concepts. They
also opined that it enhanced their knowledge and motivated them to pursue
quality research.
