IDCA Conference, 2018
 

IIIM Jaipur in collaboration with India Development Coalition of America and Rotary Club Jaipur Gurukul organized 7th North India Conference on 27th and 28th February 2018. The theme for the two day conference was “Challenges & Opportunities to Mitigate Poverty and Climate Change in India”. In the inaugural session Dr. Mohan Jain, Founder and Trustee, IDCA, USA provided impetus to the conference and suggested ways that can bring positive change in the society.

 The chief guest for the inaugural was Mr. Sasidhar N Thumuluri, MD & CEO, Basix Sub-K iTransactions Ltd., Hyderabad. The Key note speaker for the event was Sister B K Trupti, National Coordinator, Agriculture and Rural Development Wing, Brahma Kumaris, Mt. Abu. Mr. Anshu Gupta, founder Goonj also graced the occasion via skype.

The first day of the conference had three sessions. Session 1 was about “Climate change Mitigation”, Session 2 was on “Innovative Practices in Health Care and Session 3 discussed “Emerging Prospects in Livelihood”. The day witnessed expert talks by eminent personalities such as Dr. Alok Vyas, Deputy Director, CECOEDECON, Mr. Arvind Singh, Project Coordinator, Jamnalal Kaniram Bajaj Trust, Mr. Ramkrishan Choudhary, KSS Adhyaksh, Sheel ki Doongri, Ms. Kanchan Mishra, Founder Seva Sankalp, Kanpur, Mr.J.S. Pokarna, Chairman, RVHA, Mr. Brij Bhushan Goel, Freelance Consultant for Rural Social Development Projects, Gaziabad, U.P., Mr. D. P. Dada, Freelancer & Social Worker, Jaipur, Ms. Pooja Murada, Director Communications, Sehgal Foundation, Gurugram, and Mr. Gaurav Joshi, Project Officer, UNDP New Delhi.

The second day of the conference had sessions related to “Emerging Prospects in Education” and “Innovative Practices in Water”. The speakers for these sessions were Dr. Shipra Mathur, National Head, Media Action Group, Patrika Group, Jaipur, Shri Ramesh Thanvi, Chairman, Rajasthan Adult Education Association, Jaipur, Mr. S. K Sharma, CEO, The Assessors Guild, Mr. Varun Sharma, Program Coordinator, ARAVALI, Jaipur, and Mr. Navneet Surana, Program Coordinator, Green Earth Solutions, Jaipur.

The concluding session had top ten presentations by the students of IIIM through which they showcased their experience and real life learning. Among the ten presentations, the top three were rewarded with cash prizes of Rs.6000/-, Rs.4000/- and Rs.2000/- respectively. The winners were Ms. Trinika Saxena, Ms. Meet Saxena, Ms. Riya and Ms, Yukti Agarwal for their project with ‘Umang’ NGO.

Ms. Bhawna Shrimal, Mr. Deepak Singh, Ms.Sakshi Jain and Ms. Diksha Maheshwari stood second for their project with ‘Raksha’ NGO. And third position was grabbed by Mr. Priyansh Jindal and Mr. Utkarsh Bhargava for their project with ‘UNICEF’.

Ms. Kanchan Mishra, Founder Seva Sankalp, Kanpur and Ms. Saumya Pareek, Assistant Prof. MCA Programme, IIIM, were the judges for the competition. The conference culminated with conference report by Dr. Mohan Jain. He encouraged the students to contribute towards a socially responsible society.
