Faculty Development Programme through “Drum Circle”

IIIM organized a Faculty Development Programme through “Drum Circle” on April 16, 2018, group activity forphysical, mental, and spiritual health. The resource person was Mr. Manu Chandak. He started his session by highlighting importance of a ‘jembe’ (rope-tuned skin-covered goblet drum played with bare hands), originally from West Africa. He acquainted participants that the name of the jembe comes from the saying "Ankedjé, ankebé" which translates to "everyone gather together in peace" and defines the drum's purpose.

Mr. Chandak crafted series of drumming exercises during the session that facilitated participants’understanding of diverse professional aspects. Through various activities he made participants understand the importance of target setting, team spirit, concentration, patience, confidence, time management, adaptability etc.
He also encouraged participants to follow some hobbies and interestsfor maintaining a viable fit between professional and personal life.
