An International Workshop on ‘Indigenous Workforce’ at IIIM


Mr. Anil Bagga, Director, Information Technology, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, London addressed the student fraternity at India International Institute of Management with a view to broaden their understanding of the global work environment and to make them appreciate the efficient management techniques essential for managing diverse work force in a world where boundaries are disappearing and distances are shrinking.

During his discourse, Mr. Bagga discussed the pivotal imperatives that need to be accentuated to groom managers to be application-oriented and to inculcate in them a practical approach towards work. He expressed his apprehensions about the competence of the current management programmes to instill, in the future managers, a capacity to turn everyday work into a rich environment that nurtures talent and professionalism.

Admitting that learning is a complex internal process which is totally unique to each individual, Mr Bagga stressed upon the importance of experience & skills in the globalized economy where one of the key challenges being faced by the organizations is the management of culturally diverse workforce.

He discussed strategies to synchronize the Indian way of working with the global standards while strongly recommending a renewed effort to use work related activities as positive learning opportunities.

He highlighted the benefits of effective governance through the current management techniques & structures being used within PwC. While giving a comprehensive overview of the complex set of IT implementations at PwC, Mr. Bagga discussed the intricacies of Global, Regional and Local IT management and delved upon the lessons learnt in implementing SAP.
