Student feedback mechanism on Institutional Governance/faculty performance

Consistent with the purpose of development, and quality enhancement, the institute ensures that effective feedback is obtained from the students on Institutional Governance and faculty performance.

A well designed mechanism for obtaining student feedback exists in the form of

(a)   Informal Feedback and

(b)  Feedback Forms

The faculty performance is evaluated on parameters such as subject knowledge, class conduction, content presentation, student support, ability to take initiative, code of conduct etc.

Apart from this the institute also applies 360 degree Feedback Mechanism, especially with respect to teaching and non-teaching staff segments, wherein information regarding code of conduct, honesty towards duties, nature of relations etc. is collected from each and then evaluated for the betterment of the concerned employee’s profile.

11.

Grievance redressal mechanism for faculty, staff and students

The institute has a Grievance Redressal committee which comprises members from varied segments viz. management, parents, students, teaching and non-teaching staff. The committee gives a sympathetic ear to any problem that may arise in and out of the campus.

An individual (teaching/non-teaching staff/student) encountering any problem in any area or with any person irrespective of the hierarchy, can come forward with a written grievance, which can be dropped in the suggestion box. These problems are then considered by the Grievance Redressal committee and the needed action is taken. Utmost importance is thus given to the grievances of each and every individual of the organization.

Members of the committee take each case of grievance in ethical way. While passing judgment, attention is given to the authenticity of the grievance and at the same time the grievance under study should not clash with the personality. Irrespective of the designation and hierarchy of the person, the decision of the committee has to be in time with the results of investigation. Each encountered grievance is taken as a serious matter with spontaneous search of the cause and its rectification.

The institute publishes its UGC approved Journal OORJA, International Journal of Management & IT, ISSN (print) 0974-7869, ISSN (online) 2395-6771, which stimulates academic fervor and encourages and disseminates research. OORJA is published twice a year.

Admission quota

Admissions to the MBA program are done through the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) examination which is conducted by the AICTE annually. The admissions to the General seats (102) are granted through this procedure. The remaining (18) seats are allotted through the management quota.

CRS Radio: CRS Radio 7, one of the first community Radios in the country to have come up in the education sector, became operational in ISIM in 2005. Established under expert guidance and supervision of Broadcast Engineering Consultants of India Ltd. The main objective of the radio station is to increase community awareness on topics of social relevance like education, health, environment and rural development etc. It is positioned to provide 'edutainment' through the efforts of talented students of the institute. All programmes of CRS Radio 7 are conceptualized, produced and broadcast by the students.

Counseling/ Mentoring

The institute has a Student Mentorship Development Program (SMDP) under which each faculty acts as a mentor to15- 20 students. Regular interactions are held between the faculty mentors and the students. The mentors advice the students on study and/or personal issues in case these arise. Students also seek advice on individual career ambitions and study skills.

 

Career Counseling

The Placement and Counseling cell provides guidance and counsels the students on career related issues.

Doctor is called on need basis and regular camps for checkups (Eye, Hemoglobin etc.) are held. There is a first-aid room and sick bay to attend to sick students.

Students Activity Body

ISIM has various student committees that take active part in the decision- making process related to academics, co-curricular activities and programs related to student development. Committees of students are also constituted for conducting extra-curricular, co-curricular and academic activities from time to time.

Committees are also formed for conducting the Management fest Mosaic, Fresher’s and Farewell Parties, Alumni get-together- ‘Dharohar’, Guest lectures, discussions, seminars, workshops, conferences, placement preparation activities, soft skills activities etc.

Student Clubs form an essential part of ISIM business and technology learning experience. They provide students with an opportunity to explore new areas of interest as well as develop important networks with the alumni and with the wider community. Speaker series, presentations and special meetings are typical activities organized by these clubs. The institute has set up various specialization clubs to focus on the holistic development of the students including White Knight, the Finance Club, HuManagers, the HR Club, Genesis, the Marketing Club.

Cultural activities

‘Mosaic’, the inter institute annual management fest is organized to instill in the future professionals the skills of scope building, organizing, designing and implementing of processes.

Mosaic is a collage of cultural and academic activities ranging from singing, dancing, case-study presentations, advertisement design and presentation, painting, role playing etc. and has participations from institutions in and around Rajasthan.

Other activities such as Freshers’ Party, Farewell Party, Teachers’ day and Alumni Meet are organized on an annual basis.

Students’ committees are formed for each of these activities giving a chance to all the students to participate actively and provide them with a platform for learning and organizing activities at institute level.

Sports activities

The institute offers ample opportunities and facilities for sports and games. It has a swimming pool in the campus where inter college swimming competitions are hosted. Keeping in mind the fast changing dynamics of competition and the overall development of the students, the college conducts various activities based on the essentials of personality development and individual excellence. These activities aim at providing opportunities to the students for bringing forth, fostering and enhancing their abilities in order to realize unexplored areas and encourage self-expression, leading to a sense of achievement and satisfaction.

The activities include debates, extempore, quiz, creative writing, paper presentations, group discussions and other similar competitions and also Teachers’ day, Freshers’ day celebrations etc. ‘Mosaic’, the inter institute management fest is organized to instill in the future professionals the skills of scope building, organizing, designing and implementing of processes.

To bridge the gap between curriculum and current practices as well as to expose the students to real life application, stress is laid on imparting value based education through efforts like guest lectures, field visits, seminars, conferences, workshops, presentations, participation in various inter and intra college activities, exhibitions, education trips, interactive sessions etc.

One of the objectives of ISIM is to inculcate civic responsibilities. The institute plays pivotal role in inculcating civic responsibility among students through organizing of blood donation, pulse polio camps and encouraging the students to contribute towards relief work for natural calamities (earthquakes, floods etc.). These activities are undertaken under the flagship of NSS, giving students a chance to groom their citizenship skills.

Magazine/ Newsletter

For regular dissemination of information on academic, research and co-curricular activities and content, ISIM publishes its own Journal and a newsletter.

  • The institute publishes its UGC approved Journal OORJA, International Journal of Management & IT, ISSN (print) 0974-7869, ISSN (online) 2395-6771, published twice a year is aimed at disseminating research and encouraging explorative learning.
  • IIS institutional network publishes an in-house newsletter bi-annually which publishes all the academic, extra-curricular and campus activities of all the institutions under its umbrella. The achievements of students as well as the faculty members are recognized and given due credit and published in this newsletter.

 

Technical activities/ TechFest

‘Mosaic’, the inter-institute annual management fest is organized to infuse in the would-be managers skills of capacity building, systematizing, planning and implementing the course of action.

Mosaic is a collage of cultural and academic activities ranging from Strings Unplugged (singing competition), Hot Steeper (dance competition), Big Idea (poster presentations), AD Guru (advertisement design and presentation), painting, role playing etc. and has witnessed participation from institutions in and around Rajasthan.

Students of the MBA program are continually involved in academic, and research oriented projects. Students make presentations of the studies carried out by them, on topics of current relevance and future trends in every semester in the Auditorium/ AV hall.

Industrial Visits/ Tours

To acquaint the students with the real-life work environment, culture and procedures, industrial visits/tours to local companies/industries planned on a regular basis. A week long industrial tour is organized every year to ensure that the students get a first-hand experience of the nitty-gritties of the business world by visiting companies functioning in different domains.

Alumni activities

With the belief that it is the alumni that bear testimony to the institute’s success, ISIM ensures regular interaction with its ex-students. The alumni meet ‘Dharohar’ is organized on a regular basis once a year. The ex-students of the institute are also invited for guest lectures and as judges for various events organized throughout the year.
