FDP on ‘A Holistic Strategic Framework for an Institute of Excellence’

An FDP was conducted at the IIIM Campus on 5th of March 2016. The topic of the FDP was ‘A Holistic Strategic Framework for an Institute of Excellence’ by Professor P.K Chande, former Director MANIT Bhopal, former Director SGS IJS, Indore, Ex Professor IIM Indore. The thrust of the FDP was on realization of knowledge. Prof. Chande advocated a vision based approach to academic excellence. He also emphasized the role of technology in professional growth.
He discussed a Five Force Institutional Model for achieving excellence. He referred to Management, Faculty standards, Student Quality, Regulator Mentor and Industry Collaboration as five force factors in his model and viewed technology as the binding force between all these factors. He further emphasized that a road map of career development is necessary for faculties in an institute. He articulated the required personal and professional skills of faculties.
Prof. Chande discussed a Five Force Research Model to improve the quality of research in the institutes. The five force factors referred to were Field of Research, Quality Expectancy, IPR, Society and Self strength. His deliberations of the ‘Innovations Cycle’ and the ‘Seven Quotients’ were thought provoking and appreciated by the participants.
The participating faculties from other institutes and IIIM were immensely benefitted from this session.
