MONTAGE-2014
October 14th -15th

Montage 2014, the 10th Annual Inter Institute IT festival was inaugurated on 14th  October, 2014 by honourable  chief guest Dr. Mahendra Surana (IAS Retd.), Jaipur. The inaugural ceremony “UDGHOSH” started with Saraswati Vandana, followed by lamp lighting. Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director IIIM welcomed all guests and participants and shared the institutes cultural landmarks till date. Montage 2014 witnessed a participation of around 150 students from 18 technical institutes across the country.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mahendra Surana, said that fests like Montage provide an opportunity for overall development of students. He motivated students to participate in social, educational and creative events to realize their full potential.

Montage 2014 was dedicated to Dr. Narinder Singh Kapany the father of fiber optics. A motivational illustration portraying Dr Kapany’s life, achievements and contribution to the development of Fiber optics was presented on the occasion. A colorful and inspirational presentation depicting the events, activities and achievements of the students in the last year  was also put on view.

During two days of fest, a plethora of technical and cultural activities were organized to showcase the skills and talent of the students. A brief of the events and activities organized during the two days is as follows:

 

Day -1

Aamne-Samne was a role playing event in which each participant had to mimic as a celebrity and was interviewed by mock reporters. Ms. Kanwaljeet Kaur from University Centre for Computer Science & I.T., University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, got the first position and Mr. Pravin Singh Chauhan from Shree Karni College, Jaipur was the runner-up.

Brain-Bench, the quiz had an outstanding and innovative approach to quizzing for the participants. Mr. Akash Todarka & Mr.Yogesh Sharma from S.S. Jain Subodh PG College won the first position. Ms. Kanwal jeet Kaur & Mr. Ashish Khandelwal from University Centre for Computer Science & I.T., University of Rajasthan, Jaipur were the runner-ups.

Cognitive event Cross-Road gave an opportunity to take the dare of words and vocabulary to the IT wizards. Ms. Anjali Gautam from Shree Karni College, Jaipur won the first position and Ms. Vandana Agarwal from University Centre for Comp. Sci. & I.T., University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, was the runner-up.

Bits & Bytes was an event where participants demonstrated a software which they had developed using their technical proficiency. They described the technical specifications, front end, back end and working of the software's extended specifications.  The Teams of Mr. Bajarang Lal Hudda, Mr. Meghraj Bhati, Mr. Manish Joshi and Mr. Sumit Kumar Saini, Mr. Vikas Gupta, Mr.Yogesh Sharma, were ranked  first and second respectively.

On the other hand Website development competition Web-Vision tested the creativity and web designing skills of the partakers. The winners were Mr. Deepesh Kashyap, Mr. Gauss Mohd. Chippa, and Mr. Prateek Mali, Mr. Dayanand Saini from Pacific University, Udaipur were the runners-up.

Splash the painting competition had the students representing their different moods and shades. Ms. Pooja Parmar from Maharshi Arvind Institute of Science and Management, Jaipur secured the first position and Mr. Omveer Singh from Rajasthan Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jaipur secured the second position.

 

Taal  popularly known as “ANTAKSHARI”has been one of the most sizzling cultural events of all times. It was a pulsating and vibrating mix of lilting songs and throbbing beats. Ms. Surbhi Mittal & Ms. Reena Rajawat from University Centre for Comp. Sci. & I.T., University of Rajasthan, Jaipur won the First prize. Mr. Gaurav Kumar Khandelwal & Ms. Shivani Sharma from S.S. Jain Subodh PG College, Jaipur were at second position.

 

 

 

Day-2

The Second Day of Montage started with Drishti- Perception, in this event, games like Pictionary, Memory Test were included for participants to interpret information from a number of available resources. Ms. Kanwaljeet Kaur, Ms. Surbhi Mittal from University Centre for Comp. Sci. & I.T., University of Rajasthan, Jaipur won the first place, whereas Mr. Anil Kumar Chotiya, Mr. Manjeet Singh from Pacific University, Udaipur were second.

Rangoli Making competition, Spectrum was an event to express their colorful spirit for the participants. Mr. Deepesh Kashyap emerged as the winner and  Ms. Sandhya Sharma were the runners-up.

Ooh La La adapted the popular game “Snakes and ladders” to test the general awareness and knowledge of the participants. The winner was Mr. Vaibhav Vijayvargeeya from NIT Suratkal Karnataka and the runner-up was  Mr. Deepak Kumar Sharma from Maharshi Arvind Institute of Science and Management, Jaipur.

In Thru-Ur-Eyes, the theme based photography event, ideas, moods and expressions were captured through the digital images. This event got an overwhelming response from the participants. Mr. Ravi Kumar Jangid from S.S. Jain Subodh PG College, Jaipur stood first and Mr. Siddhartha Tiwari from University Centre for Comp. Sci. & I.T., University of Rajasthan, Jaipur stood second in the competition.

Code- Acumen, In this event contestants explored their programming skills & problem solving ability, where accuracy is the key to score high in the competition. Mr. Ashish Khandelwal & Ms. Kanwaljeet Kaur from University Centre for Comp Sci & I.T, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur won the first prize. Mr. Vikas Gupta & Mr. Sumit Kumar Saini from S.S Jain Subodh PG College, Jaipur. were at the second  position.

 

Collage Making competition, Pixels was an event to express their colorful thought for the participants. Mr. Deepesh Kashyap, Mr. Prateek Mali  from Pacific University, Udaipur  as the winners and  Ms. Richa Ojha, Mr. Rajnish Vijay form Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur  were the runners-up.

The most awaited event of the day was D4U or Dance for You. A competition for emerging software developers, especially designed to bring out the future choreographers and dancers of the IT world. The winning team members were Mr. Shashank Sharma, Mr. Anshul Gour, Mr. Ashwani Khandelwal, from S.S Jain Subodh PG College, Jaipur, and the runner up team members were Ms. Pooja Soni, Mr. Nitin Saini, Mr. Surbhi Mittal, Ms. Reena Rajawat from University Centre for Comp Sci & I.T, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.

The chief guest of valediction ceremony Dr. Ajay Data, Director & CEO of Data Infosys Limited, Jaipur congratulated the participants and the organizers for the success and scale of MONTAGE-2014. He felicitated the winners and participants with trophies and certificates and congratulated them for their enthusiastic participation. The running trophy was bagged by University Centre for Computer Science & I.T., University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.
