MOSAIC 2018, the 21st annual management fest of IIIM was organized from 19-21 March, 2018. Mosaic has always provided an opportunity to students to showcase their talent and encouraged them to work with enthusiasm and commitment. Mosaic 2018 witnessed participation from more than 25 B-Schools.

Day 1

“The Fountain Head”, the inaugural ceremony was initiated by Lamp Lighting by Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director, IIIM and Vice Chancellor, The IIS University, followed by Saraswati Vandana. The event proceeded with a presentation on Mr. Vijay Shekhar Sharma reflecting his perseverance, effort and risk taking ability.

“Quizzard - The Quiz”, was a challenging array of questions to put the participants through a mind boggling series of rounds to determine the winner in which the teams consisted of two members each. The event was intended to test the contestants' knowledge and awareness of various functional areas of management and crucial changes happening in the corporate world. The winners of the event were Mayank Sharma and Arihant Nahata from IPS Business School, Jaipur and runners up were Simran Agarwal and Preksha Bhalawat from The IIS University, Jaipur.

“Take the Street - Musical Street Play” was an act of courage where youth took on societal issues which have become a challenge for one and all. The event was planned to sensitize the ‘generation next’. The participant teams consisted of 4-6 members. The judges of the event were Mr. Rohin Verma, Theatre Artist, Motivator, Actor and Mr. Raju Tamhankar, Owner, Tamhankar Theatre Academy, Recipient of 201 National Awards. The winners of the event were from Modern Institute of Technology and Research Centre, Alwar and runners up were from Om Kothari Institute of Management and Research, Kota.

“Chain the Rhythmwas the age old game of 'Antakshari', brand named and packaged to appeal to the younger generation. It was conceived to be a pulsating and vibrating mix of euphonions songs and pulsating beats. The event has, in the past, proven to be one of the most popular of all cultural events. The teams consisted of two members each. The winners of the event were Divya Sharma and Chandni Sharma from Rajasthan Technical University, Kota and runners up were Abhishek Sharma and Sunny Pachauri from Vidya School of Business, Meerut.

“Gem of Mosaic – Round 1”, an elimination round, consisted of two further sub- rounds named Accu- Mania and Tag Brag. This event was a paper and pen round to test the business and general knowledge of the students. Accu – Mania consisted of 25 questions (15 business related questions and 10 general knowledge questions). Tag Brag was to assess the knowledge about brands in which participants were given 10 product names for which they had to write atleast three associated brand names. Based on the scores of this round, 10 students were shortlisted for Round 2.

Day 2

“Junkyard - Best Out of Waste” helped the students learn one of the important aspects of business that is creating value utilizing scarce resources for improving the existing product or making a new one out of waste material. Participating teams which consisted of two members each were evaluated on the basis of flexibility and innovation in their product development strategy. The judges of the event were, Ms. Rini Bhargava, AM, HDFC Life and Ms. Kamna Kaul, HOD Arts & Craft, SMS Vidyalaya, Recipient of award by CM Smt. Vasundhara Raje in 2016 in Arts & Crafts Category. The winners of the event were Vaishali Gupta and Prakshi Bumb from S S Jain Subodh Management Institute, Jaipur and runners up were Pooja Bhargava and Aarti Bhargava from Rajasthan College of Engineering for Women, Jaipur.

“Picasso - Object Painting” was a vibrant and enthralling event, that allowed the participants to paint the given object. The participants were evaluated on the basis of their ability to express their artistic talent through a prismatic drench of colours. It was an individual event. The judges of the event were, Mr. Upinder Wadhera, Manager, HDFC Life and Mr. Shwet Goel, Associate Professor, The IIS University. The winner of the event was  Devika Shekhawat from The IIS University, Jaipur and runner up was Lal Duksaka from Mewar University, Chittor.

“Ad Guru - Create an Advertisement” was a game of innovation and imagination, wherein the participants were asked to create an advertisement for the products- “Smart Watch” or “Hand Sanitizer”. They had to promote these products through poster making (print advertisement), recorded TV commercial, live advertisement or any other innovative idea. “Getting the message across” was the underlying theme of this event. The team consisted of 3 members. The judges of the event were, Mr. Kartik Mishra, Business Analyst, Deutsche Bank and Mr. Akshay Jain, Business Head, Tag Solar System LLP, Ex- Head Activations, Dainik Bhaskar, Co – Founder, Tasty Treats. The winners of the event were Ambuja, Ashi Gupta and Neha Jain from The IIS University, Jaipur and runners up were Komal Jangid, Swati Sharma and Varsha Yadav from Rajasthan College of Engineering for Women, Jaipur.

In “Bulls n Bears- Virtual Share Trading”, the participants were required to analytically utilize their brain cells and win the game. The concept behind this event was, ‘If you dream to be a millionaire make the right decision at the right time playing as an investor’.  The team consisted of two participants each. The winners of the event were Dilip Kumar Singh and Saurabh Mody from Amity University, Jaipur and runners up were Manish Swami and Pawan Kumar Prajapat from IPS Business School, Jaipur.

“Hot Stepper – Dance”, epitomized a fusion of diverse classical, semi classical, western and folk dances representing the rich cultural heritage of our country. The teams consisted of 1 to 4 participants. The judges of the event were Ms. Manisha Daryani, AM, The Beginners and Ms. Rashmi Dharawal, Head Marketing, Baradia Group. The winner of the event was Parul Soni from The IIS University, Jaipur and runners up was Swati Sharma from Rajasthan College of Engineering for Women, Jaipur.

“Gem of Mosaic – Round 2”, the final round consisted of three sub rounds. The first round, “Corporate Ramp Walk” was to evaluate the confidence and personality of the budding managers. The second round “Eagle Eye”, assessed the creative thinking of the participants who had to talk about their inference of the abstract picture shown to them. The third and the final sub round was “Skill Drill” in which the participants were asked to showcase their talent on the spot. The judges of the event were Ms. Rekha Nimani, Director & Principal Architect, Niyojan and Ms. Shikha Pareek, TV anchor & Host, E TV, Rajasthan. The Gem of Mosaic was awarded to Deepa Bhatnagar, The IIS University.

Day 3

“Strings Unplugged”, a solo singing competition, provided a platform to the participants to exhibit their melodious disposition. The judges of the event were Ms. Kokila Sharma, Owner, KS Gems & Jewellery and Ms. Aparna Mendiratta, Associate Professor, IIIM, Jaipur. The winner of the event was Shubham Sharma from R A Poddar Institute of Management, Jaipur and runner up was Harshit Jaiswal from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur.

Big Idea - Poster Competition”, was an event where participants had to use their creative imagination to draw, paint or design a poster on the theme 'Healthy Living'. The team consisted of two participants each. The judges of the event were Ms. Afsha Khan, Director, Technoglobe and Mr. Shashikant Payal, Community Manager, Regus. The winners of the event were Lavina Goyal and Shubham Grover from Modern Institute of Technology and Research Centre, Alwar and runners up were Swati Sharma and Pooja Bhargava from Rajasthan College of Engineering for Women, Jaipur.

“Pinnacle- The Valedictory Ceremony”, marked the culmination of the three day fest. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Shri Naveen Jain, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Government of Rajasthan. Mr. Jain, in his address emphasized on the needs of various skills that are required in the students for better employability be it in private sector or public sector. He presented a trade off from the traditional line of thought which says that quality of education depends largely on the academic institution. He concluded by channelizing the thought process of the students towards making the best out of what they get.

He praised the performers and motivated the budding managers with his invaluable words. Shri Naveen Jain felicitated the winners with awards and certificates. He also released “Cambuzz”, the bi-annual news letter of the institute.

With this, the three-day cultural extravaganza came to an end with glittering prize distribution ceremony following the exhilarating performances by the students in the group dances on contemporary, western, bollywood dance forms and traditional, folk songs. The budding managers left the audience spellbound with their electrifying performances. The digital presentation on glimpses of MOSAIC-2018 reflected the fun and frolic experienced during the past three days and had a long lasting impact on the audience.

The IIS University, Jaipur was announced the overall winner of MOSAIC-2018 and were awarded the Rolling Trophy.

The event was a great success with the support and efforts of the guests, media, sponsors, all the participating institutes and the IIIM Team.
