The focus of the FDP was to familiarize the faculty members with the tools that can be used for conducting research, with special emphasis on the Prowess database. Inputs were provided on the extraction & interpretation of data from the database. The workshop, on use and extraction of 'Prowess', was conducted by Mr of C.M.I.E. (Centre for Monitoring the Indian Economy). Faculty members were given hands on experience on various applications to work on the software. The participants discussed on the analysis of data from the audited annual accounts, stock exchanges, company announcements, etc. of various organizations. Deliberations were also done on a comparative study of capital market performance, financial performance, board structure, product details, segment report and governance reports, ratio analysis, risk-return profile, funds flow, etc. A session on the utility and effectiveness of Prowess for classroom teaching to students of business management, economics and finance was also held and relevant were sections of the software identified for the same. |
