Workshop on Empower through global village

A workshop on “Empower through global village” was conducted by AIESEC in collaboration with International School of Informatics and Management on August 24, 2009 in IIIM Auditorium. Theme of the day was to provide global platform to young people to discover and develop their potential to provide leadership for a positive impact on society. The speakers on this occasion were Shri Vinay Modi, CEO, Professional Tutorials and Shri. Hemant Ambvani, renowned Consultant and Fashion Designer. Associates from AIESEC India, foreign delegates and the eminent speakers discussed global issues, problems and solutions. They emphasized on the fact that the successful execution of any strategy depends upon a clear perspective of the plan, progressive strategic infrastructure, and critical analysis of the solution. It was also inferred that diversity in approach as per local environment and moral ethos and values act as critical success factors.

Shri Vinay Modi expressed his views on economic growth and recession. He said that recession is when GDP growth slows, businesses stop expanding, employment falls, unemployment rises, and housing prices decline. Shri Modi said the Indian approach of saving for the rainy day has contributed to lesser impact of global recession in India.  He also said that the only good thing about recession is that it will cure inflation. The balancing act the Federal Reserve must pursue is to slow economic growth enough to prevent inflation without triggering a recession.

Shri Hemant Ambvani put in the picture the importance of good attitude in life. He said a major part of our life concerns our attitude towards our self and others and how we feel as a result of those attitudes. Factors involved in having satisfying attitudes are that one should enjoy life, be accountable for one’s own well being, and think in terms of taking care of ourselves.

Dignitaries from AIESEC India told that AIESEC is a global, non-political, independent, not-for-profit organization run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education. Its members are interested in world issues, leadership and management. The workshop concluded with delegates from various countries acquainting the participants with the initiatives taken by their respective teams in fulfilling social and corporate issues.
