On November 11, 2009 International School of Informatics and Management organized ‘Parichaya 2009: A week long Orientation Programme’, for the newly admitted Master of Computer Applications students. On the first day of workshop the new entrants were welcomed warmly by Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director, IIIM. On behalf of the institute he extended his best wishes and expressed hope that the newly admitted students would bring name and fame to the institute with their, sincerity, enthusiasm and dedication. He advised the students on wholesome personality development by being active, interactive and participative in academics and co- curricular activities. In his address to the students, he stressed on the importance of communication skills in the corporate world. Through a well-compiled presentation the freshers were introduced to the world of IIIM and its sister institutions. They were offered the first glimpse into the world of IT with an excellently scripted presentation on ‘Czars of IT’ filling them with a sense of reverence and awe for the sector where their future would take shape. The new students, then, introduced themselves, sharing with their new family their hopes, aspirations and dreams. During this week-long workshop, participants will be familiarized with different facets of recent trends and challenges of IT World. The students would get an opportunity to interact with prominent experts from Industry. |

On the second day of orientation programme Ms. Swati V.
Chande, Professor & Principal (MCA), IIIM, briefed the students about the
Academic, Discipline, Culture, Code and Conduct of the institute. She also
highlighted the future focus areas in IT and current strengths and
weaknesses of the IT industry. She urged the students that, they should
focus on concepts and not rush for technologies. On the Second day of the orientation week, Mr. Sandeep Menghani, Recruitment Development Manager, HR Max New York Life briefed the students about the required information & personality grooming for the industry. He advised the students to be updated of new technologies of the IT industry through regular reading of IT journals and newspapers. Sir also stressed for improving communication skills. Continuing with IT theme next session was of Mr. Ashwini kumar Goyal, CEO, Intecons Software Lab encouraged the new technocrats to be proactive in every field and recognize their area of interest and work on them with full potential. He motivated students to recognize the passion in them and utilize it thoroughly in making their way clear and successful in the IT field. He advised students to be logical in their work and achieve the targets in a systematic manner. G/C Captain Manoj Kumar, Placement Coordinator and Assistant Professor, IIIM. Sir enhanced the knowledge of the students about the requirements of the industry in the competing world. Mr. Manoj acquainted the students with the importance of soft skills in the day to day life. Mr. Vipin Jain, Metacube Software briefed the freshers about new career opportunities & dimensions of Software Testing. In this enriching session Mr. Vipin Jain briefed about the required skills for Software Testing. Sir also stressed on goal clarity and he enthusiastically responded, citing real life examples, to the queries of the participating students. Ms. Jyotsna Mahawar, Head HR, Dotsquares Technologies enlightened the students on enhancing their learning ability & Communication Skills. She elucidated the students about the 4E’s and 1P which should be the initial step in their Career i.e. be Energetic, Energize others, Live on the Edge and Execute and Passion. She also highlighted expectation of human resource from the freshers in interviews. Dr. Satish Batra, Retd. Professor, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan had a very energetic & enriching session with the students. He elucidated various tips for how to be stress free & handle the problems of day to day life. Citing various real life examples Sir briefed the students about the relevance of the sayings of Geeta in contemporary situations. Dr. Batra also briefed the students on various factors which are essential for Winners, Determination, Confidence, Time Management, and Perseverance. Fourth day of the orientation program included technical sessions with Ms. Sumiti Mittal, CEO, Pratham Software. She shared information about the upcoming technologies and trends in the IT field in a very explanatory and interactive approach. Ms. Sumiti also informed the students that despite the knowledge about the company and the field, flexibility and positive attitude are the key factors in getting employed. She discussed and interacted with students on the various current and future IT trends along with the growth factor affecting Indian IT Industry. Mr. Akhilesh Sharma CEO, A3Logics encouraged the students to be high spirited in their jobs and work hard to gain practical experience in every field of curriculum. He also cited examples from his life to motivate the budding technocrats for the right attitude and inculcating effective approach to work. The speaker enthusiastically responded, to the queries of the participating students. Mr. Deepak Rajoria, System Administrator, IIIM briefed the students about the expected conduct in the institute’s laboratory and the processes and facilities available for the Computer Application students. |

Mr. Ras Bihari Dayal, Circle Head (IT), Reliance TechServices Ltd. in very simple words explained the students about the significance of team skills that are a prime necessity of the IT field. Sir elucidated that appreciating others for their good work is also required to enjoy a good experience and company of great professionals. Mr. Ras Bihari also briefed on various professional traits, imperative in the competitive IT world such as – taking initiatives, having an eye for details, accepting challenges, creativity, technical up gradation, personal efficiency, impressive influencing body language and dressing sense. The week-long orientation programme concluded with effective learning and value addition by the participating students. The Industry-academia interactive sessions were well received and were well appreciated both in terms of Intellectual enrichment and quality content. The programme accomplished its objectives of acquainting the freshers with the institute, its working and environment and the opportunities and threats in the field that they have chosen to make their career in. |
