Workshop on ‘Overview of Indian Financial Sectors’ was organized with resource person Mr. Rajeev Mathur, Cluster Manager (Household), Reliance Money on October 29, 2009. Sir initiated his session elucidating students about the financial sector and various investment avenues like equity, mutual fund, commodity etc. Mr. Mathur also briefed the students regarding the factors which led the US recession and compared the economic structures of US and India. Sir also briefed students regarding changing environment of banking sector. Linking investment and banking he opined that dynamics in the banking sector have changed with banks pursuing strategies that aim to strengthen their ability to perform various financial functions, business planning for their retail customers, raising capital for the mid-market segment, tax-related services, selling mutual funds and insurance, among other things, these variations he said, have their influence on other sectors, including individual and corporate investments. With his rich experience in the field of finance, he enlightened the budding managers about the significance of savings in any economy while providing them information on the options available for right investments and effective savings. By the end of the highly enriching session, the budding professionals got an appreciable understanding of the various trends and challenges in the field of Finance. |
