IIIM has been recognized as a Center of Excellence (CoE) by the IBM Academic Initiative. Mr. Himanshu Goyal, Country Manager, Academic Initiative, Developer Works and Globalization, IBM, India inaugurated the CoE on September 03, 2009. IBM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with International School of Informatics and Management Jaipur, to enable the institute to train and build a skilled resource base on leading software technologies. Accordingly it has also granted IIIM the status of Center of Excellence for extended collaboration with the institute, with the aim of providing world class skills to students on Information Management software and also creating an opportunity for students to learn new skill sets on the IBM software products – DB2, WebSphere, Lotus, Rational and Tivoli – as well as develop new solutions. The CoE is an outgrowth of IBM's Academic Initiative, which covers 2,000 colleges and universities. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Goyal stressed that the centre will provide an opportunity for students to enhance their skill set on open source and IBM technologies and develop world class solutions to meet the requirements of the corporate demands. Sir also briefed students at honing up the communication skills and discussed the pitfalls & barriers in effective communication and elucidated various means to enhance their communication skill. He elaborated that: IBM will follow a twin-pronged strategy — (i) Enabling the college to have access to the technologies relevant to the market, (ii) Training faculty to ensure that right skills are taught, enabling the students to gain first-hand experience on almost all Information Management products installed in the college by IBM. Mr. Himanshu Goyal felicitated the students who qualified the IBM DB2 Universal Database Certification Examination. 95% of the MCA candidates who appeared in examination achieved the distinction of being IBM certified Database Associates. This Programme is recognized worldwide and the certification gives candidates advantage in the marketplace for expertise in the enterprise database platform DB2. Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director, International School of Informatics and Management appreciated the IBM initiative of reaching out to the students and building industry ready workforce y way of direct and continuous IBM-academia interface. As a CoE, IIIM will have the benefit of IBM partnering closely with the institute to create an enabling environment by allowing access to IBM software, course materials, training and conducting certification examinations.
