Workshop on “Web Application Development using Open and IBM Tools”

A day long workshop on “Web Application Development using Open and IBM Tools” was organized on August 27, 2008 with resource person Mr. Vikram Gaur, IT Specialist, IBM, New Delhi. 

Mr. Gaur with his rich experience in the field of information technology enlightened the budding technocrats on data collection in DB2-9 and new technologies like Eclipse, RAD, WAS Server configurations.  

In his informative session, Sir very methodically exposed the students to the fact that in today’s changing IT environs, a candidate’s technical competence must be supported by communication skills, presentation skills and oratory skills as these are also given weightage in selection against her/his degree.   

He also illuminated that while designing software, the time deadlines are also to be strictly adhered to and acquainted students with DB connectivity code, WAS server configuration, and web server. 

Mr. Gaur stressed on the need to follow the different steps of System Analysis and Design, and briefed them on the tips for synopsis scope and design phase.  

He concluded his lecture with a very informative and attractive comparative study of JSP and AJAX.  

The participants actively participated in the activities of the workshop and were satisfied with the enhancement of their knowledge in the practical implementation of software engineering concepts. The speaker enthusiastically responded, citing real life examples, to the queries of the participating students and faculty.
