Workshop on Recent Trends in Retail Management

On 23rd March 2009, a workshop on “Recent Trends in Retail Management“ was organized in International School of Informatics and Management in collaboration with MDA(Management Development Academy) and AICTE(All India Council for Technical Education) .

The event aimed at orienting the participants towards various retail management inclinations and also to motivate them to become self employed. The prominent speakers for the workshop were Mr. Bhalendra Singh Nayak, CEO, Max Mark, Prof Ramesh Arora, Chairman, MDA, Ms. Tanjul Saxena, Director, MDA, Mr. VivekSheel Aazad, Head, Operations Reliance Retail and Mr. Ramesh Gandhi, Executive Director, Chandra Trio Services Pvt Ltd.

The Workshop sheltered themes like changing face of retail management, value retailing and lifestyle retailing. This was pursued by an interactive session wherein the speakers, acquainted the participants with various dimensions of Retail Management.

Mr Nayak gave an insight into the Retail world by screening data with reference to recent trends in the domain. He discussed about various categories of retail and depicted how Indian retail evolved. He portrayed various models and also discussed the major growth drivers of retail sector in India.

Mr VivekSheel Aazad gripped the audience by providing inputs on the matter of Value Retailing. He discussed various aspects of consumer psychology and derived the reasons of changing trends at length. He also discussed the key future challenges that the retail sector has to face. 

 

Mr Ramesh Gandhi addressed the listeners on life style retailing. He discussed various segments and future trends in life style retailing and also elaborated the importance of interaction in retailing.

In the concluding session a panel discussion on “Retail Management“was held. It was moderated by Mr. Bhalendra Nayak, Ms. Tanjul Saxena and Mr. Ramesh Gandhi to put across their views in retail management. By the end of the session, the young participants were engrossed in the intricacies of Retail Sector. The seminar witnessed participation from academicians & students from various management institutions. The practicum was well appreciated both in terms of Intellectual and quality content, and accomplished its objectives well.
