A workshop on “Recent Trends in Business strategies” was conducted by MDA (Management Development Academy) in collaboration with AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) on March 26, 2009 in International School of Informatics and Management, to acquaint the future managers with the subject. The speakers on this occasion were Shri. Kartik Raina (former CEO –Dalmia Consumer Care, Shri. Gautam Bose (GM, Indian Oil Corporation-Rajasthan State Office) and Dr. Geetika Kapoor (Prof., RA Poddar Institute of Management). Shri. Gautam Bose enlightened the audience with the principles of Business Strategy. He emphasized on the fact that the successful execution of any strategy depends upon a clear perspective of the plan, progressive strategic infrastructure, moral values and a critical analysis of the same. According to Shri Kartik Raina all business strategies should be customer oriented. Hence while laying down the plans the utility and quality of the product and customer satisfaction should be of primary concern. He stressed on the synchronized integration of competition and business policies. Dr Geetika Kapoor underlined the need for proper policy making, correct implementation and its evaluation. Dr. Kapoor acquainted the audience with her thoughts that promoting good practice in policy making is fundamental to the delivery of quality outcomes for citizens and to the realization of public sector reform. She also said that public policy is a way to correct market failures and to provide goods and services that the market does not. In this sense, public policy formation, implementation, and evaluation is a non-market process of societal problem solving. |
