On September 12, 2008 International School of Informatics and Management organized ‘Parichaya 2008: A week long Orientation programme’, for the newly admitted Master of Computer Applications students. On the first day of workshop the new entrants were welcomed warmly by Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director, IIIM through video conferencing. On behalf of the institute he extended his best wishes and expressed hope that the newly admitted students would bring name and fame to the institute with their, sincerity, enthusiasm and dedication. He advised the students on wholesome personality development by being active, interactive and participative in academics and co- curricular activities. Through a well-compiled presentation the freshers were introduced to the world of IIIM and its sister institutions. They were offered the first glimpse into the world of IT with an excellently scripted presentation on ‘Inventing the Future’ filling them with a sense of reverence and awe for the sector where their future would take shape. The new students, then, introduced themselves, sharing with their new family their hopes, aspirations and dreams. During this week-long workshop, participants will be familiarised with different facets of recent trends and challenges of IT World. The students would get an opportunity to interact with prominent experts from Industry. |

On the second day of orientation programme Ms. Swati V. Chande, Professor & Principal (MCA), IIIM, briefed the students about the Academic, Discipline, Culture, Code and Conduct of the institute. She also highlighted the future focus areas in IT and current strengths and weaknesses of the IT industry. G/C Captain Manoj Kumar, Placement Coordinator and Assistant Professor, IIIM. Sir enhanced the knowledge of the students about the requirements of the industry in the competing world. Mr. Manoj acquainted the students with the importance of soft skills in the day to day life. Mr. Akhilesh Sharma, CEO and Director, A3 Logics, conducted a highly informative and interactive session on ‘Current Trends in IT’ for the new aspirants. Mr. Sharma urged student that, they should focus on concepts and not rush for technologies. Sir cited various real life examples to motivate the new technocrats to develop a positive attitude coupled with thorough technical background for ensuring success in their endeavors. Sir also briefed about the new open sources in information technology. Mr. Akhilesh Sharma ended the interactive session by answering to the queries of students. He motivated them to inculcate a winning attitude and showed them the bright side of the IT world. The day concluded by Mr. Pankaj Saxena, Senior Manager HR, Ericsson India Limited provided inputs on ‘Preparing for the Corporate World’ and informed the students about the current issues and expectations of organizations from the freshers. Mr. Saxena in his highly enriching session offered numerous practical tips for developing the right attitude and inculcating effective approach to work. He elucidated students with various handy suggestions to improve their pronunciation, communication, dressing sense, body language and attitude. Sir concluded his session with this inspirational quote ‘Thoughts make the habit and habit makes character of the person’. He discussed and interacted with students on the various current and future prerequisites of Information Technology world. |

Continuing with the IT theme Mr. Deepak Adhalakha, Director, IT, Ebizneeds, in his session on ‘Recent Trends in IT’, briefed the budding technocrats about top Seven Indian Contributors like Patni computers, Tech Mahindra, HCL, Satyam, Infosys, Wipro, TCS. He cited the role of these leading organizations in moving investment trends, salary hikes, and green IT. Sir also enlightened the student about the application service provider and SaaS. Mr. Adhalakha also acquainted the students with Network Operation Center- Inside or NOC Inside. He described it as an annuity service with low upfront costs for IT infrastructure monitoring and management. The automation infrastructure is installed within the IT organization’s offices with no additional costs on bandwidth. The security issues are redundant and periodic IT advisory engagements are assured for specific needs, operational and planning needs. “Moksha is not freedom from action but freedom in action.” Dr. Satish Batra, Dy. Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan initiated his session on ‘soft skills’ with this motivational quote. Dr. Batra also briefed the students on various factors which are essential for winners, Determination, Planning, Organizational Skills, Time Management, Effective communication and empathy. Sir also stressed on goal clarity and emphasized student to dream big. He further highlighted, that every IT student must be aware of this guru mantra: Action + Vision = Victory The speaker enthusiastically responded, citing real life examples, to the queries of the participating students. The next session was on, ‘Emerging Paradigms’, by Mr. Pramod Aggarwal, S.A. & Joint Director, IT Infrastructure, Department of Information Technology, Govt. of Rajasthan. Sir in his highly enriching session acquainted students with the electronic product code and also RFID utilization for Automated Data Collection. He also enlightened audience with the various alternative technologies, Barcode and Magnetic Strips. Sir concluded his session by elucidating the challenges of IT world and changes which organizations are incorporating to raise competence. The day concluded with a session on the “Relevance of the constituents of MCA Curriculum” by Mrs. Kapila Pareek, Senior Lecturer, IIIM. She introduced the new comers to the MCA curriculum as prescribed by RTU, Kota. Mrs. Pareek encouraged the freshers to identify their learning style preferences and ensure that they are able to grasp the maximum from facilitators. On the fourth day of Orientation Week, Mr. Vijay Gupta, Senior Lecturer, IIIM elucidated the students on ‘Software Engineering Concepts’. Sir discussed the distinction between Software Engineering and System Analysis Design. Mr. Gupta emphasized that proper and regular documentation is the key to successful software development. Speaking on ‘Career Opportunities in IT’ Mr. Ashwani Kr. Sharma, Dy. Director (IT and BT), RIICO, informed the students of the options available in the IT domain and also talked about career progression in the IT organizations. Mr. Sharma urged students to lay more emphasis on practical knowledge, as theoretical knowledge may vary with implementations. This was followed by a session on ‘Management Process’, by Mr. Lovelish Rupani, Sr. Project Manager, Backoffice IT solution Pvt. Ltd. Sir from his vast experience in the IT world quoted various motivating instances for freshers of various visionaries and leaders of today’s IT world. Mr. Rupani in his highly motivating session offered numerous practical tips for developing the right attitude and inculcating effective approach to work. Sir stressed on the significance of being creative, to accept change and newness, to be willing to play with ideas and possibilities and to have a flexible outlook, the habit of enjoying the good while looking for ways to improve, to achieve success. He discussed and interacted with students on the various current and future IT trends along with the growth factor affecting Indian IT Industry. The session was interactive and ended on an inspirational note. Mr. Ashwani Kumar Goel, CEO, Intecons Software Pvt. Ltd. conducted a session titled “Be Proactive”. In this session, Mr. Goel encouraged the students to look beyond their syllabus and grab the opportunities in the market by training themselves on the upcoming trends and technologies. Sir cited various real life examples to motivate the new technocrats to control their fascination towards the higher packages and to focus on job satisfaction in terms of knowledge acquired and responsibility discharged. |

On the fourth day of Parichaya 2008, Prof. Ashok Nagawat, Joint Director, Centre for Converging Technologies, University of Rajasthan, briefed the budding technocrats with next Industrial Revolution. He said that the new mantra for technological objectives should be: Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere, Anydevice. He emphasized on the need to focus on the often quoted line ‘the best way to predict the future is to invent it’. The next session was on ‘IT Trends and Growths’ with Ms. Sumeeti Mittal, Director, Pratham Software. Ms. Mittal, in her highly enriching session informed freshers that information technology is not only the use of computers and software but it is an effort to manage information properly. Ms. Sumeeti also briefed the aspirants with the emerging IT Trends, Global Positioning System, Keyboard of future, and handsfree remote control. In the end, she elucidated the significance of outsourcing. She also said that India is a talent and technology rich country. The day concluded with a session by Mr. Deepak Rajoria, System Administrator, IIIM wherein he briefed the students about the expected conduct in the institute’s laboratory and the processes and facilities available for the Computer Application students. The week-long learning programme concluded with effective learning by the participating students. The colloquium was well appreciated both in terms of Intellectual and quality content. The programme accomplished its objectives of acquainting the freshers with the institute, its working and environment and the opportunities and threats in the field that they have chosen to make their career in. |
