International School of Informatics and Management (IIIM),
organized one day National Seminar on “Redefining Global
Business Competitiveness”. The seminar was inaugurated by Prof.
J.K.Mitra, Dean, FMS,
Delhi.
Shri Umesh Bhandari, CEO, Reliance Industries Ltd., Rajasthan
was the guest of honour.
Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director, International School of Informatics
and Management, welcomed the eminent Resource Persons, delegates
and distinguished invitees.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Mitra discussed in detail the
global standing of Indian Economy and highlighted the strategies
through which we can leverage our global advantage.
He held the young audience rapt by quoting famous management
writers and discussing contemporary management terms like co-opetition,
blue ocean, base of pyramid etc. While stressing that the
current turmoil cannot be termed ‘recession’, he admitted that
there was definitely a slow down. He encouraged the delegates to
motivate themselves and work hard to achieve their goals.
The keynote speaker of the seminar was Shri Umesh Bhandari. In
his discourse, he talked about the growth opportunities in India
and discussed terms like consumerism, competition and other such
phenomena that are a part of the globalized world. He
enlightened the audience citing examples from the works of
renowned management thinkers.
He touched upon contemporary issues such as Technological
advancements, free market ideology & economic liberalization,
shifting the mindset, consumerism, shifting of economic centre
from developed to the developing countries, globalization of
competitors, etc. Sir also briefed students about the 12
pillars of competitiveness refer from the Global Competitiveness
Report 2007-2008.
During the first technical session, Shri Reno Raj, Project Head,
ICICI Prudential, Jaipur, spoke about global integration and
emphasized the need to formulate strategies that would make
organization more adaptive. He opined that India is poised to be
the frontrunner in the quest of global dominance in
competitiveness.
In the second technical session, Shri Mohit Arolkar (AVP,
Genpact, Jaipur), threw light on the difficulties ahead and
discussed how we can prepare ourselves to take on these
challenges. He laid stress on the need for positive attitude and
innovative practices in global strategy formulation.
A panel discussion was held in the last session of the seminar.
It was moderated by Mr. Mrinal Purohit, Product & Brand Head,
DNA, Jaipur. Mr. Gaurav Mundra, Director, Trueworth Group of
Companies, Jaipur, and Mr. Rohit Mogra, Head HR, Airtel, Jaipur
expressed their views on the innovative practices that could
enhance global competitiveness.
The seminar witnessed participation from Industry, Research
Scholars, Academicians & students from various management
institutions like ICFAI, Apex institute of Management and
Sciences , Shri Karni College, Maharishi Arvind Institute of
Engineering and Technology, Swami Keshavnand Institute of
Technology, Malviya National Institute of Technology, OMEGAN
Institute, Institute for Integrated Learning in Management, Shri
Balaji College of Engineering & Tech., and Regional College of
Engineering for Women, etc. All delegates were awarded
certificates of participation for their presence. |
