Workshop on Excellence, Ethics and the World of Management

A workshop on “Excellence, Ethics and the World of Management” was conducted by Management Development Academy (MDA) in collaboration with AICTE, on 30th March, 2009 in International School of Informatics and Management.

Shri Pradeep Kashyap (CEO, Kashyap Mart), Prof. Varun Arya (Director, Aravali Institute of Management, Jodhpur) and Shri Pramod Patni (Chartered Accountant) addressed the students on various management issues and stressed on the need to reinforce them with value based management practices.

According to Shri Pradeep Kashyap, Management Ethics is a highly accessible and concise approach to issues and key problems in the area of management. In today’s changing scenario, the incorporation of managerial values has become an integral part. He also emphasized that that formal corporate communication through group induction and common development programmes have to be fine-tuned towards achievement of spirit of cohesion and common culture.

Shri Pramod Patni stressed on the impetus provided by values to different aspects of management. He also drew everybody’s attention on the fact that the purpose of ethics in business is to direct businessmen and women to abide by a code of conduct that facilitates, if not encourages, public confidence in their products and services.

Prof. Varun Arya said that modern managers should lend the "dynamic, life-giving element" to business, making it a holistic study of "mind, body and soul". According to him, to rise and come up unscathed by the effects of global meltdown, one needs to ponder over the aspect of providing future leaders from within the industry, which in turn should become the sheet anchor of corporate philosophy.

At the end of the workshop, the speakers encouraged and answered various queries directed from the students. The workshop was also attended by students and faculty of other management institutions.
