MBA Orientation (PARICHAYA)  2007

On August 22 International School of Informatics and Management initiated a week long orientation programme ‘Parichya-2007’, for the fresh batch of MBA apprentices to orient the budding manager to acquaint them with the vision, mission, ethics, culture, and codes of the Institute on and Intricacies and challenges of the Management World. 

On the First Day of the Workshop, the new entrants were welcomed warmly by Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director, IIIM. On behalf of the institute he extended his best wishes and expressed hope that the newly admitted students would bring name and fame to the institute with their, sincerity, enthusiasm and dedication. He advised the students on wholesome personality development by being active, interactive and participative in academics and co- curricular activities. Sir also highlighted the significance of effective communication for excellence in corporate arena. 

During this week-long workshop, participants will be familiarized with different facets of recent trends and challenges of business. The students would get an opportunity to interact with prominent experts from Industry and Arena.


On the second day of orientation programme Dr. Manju Nair, Assistant Principal, IIIM briefed the budding managers about the Academic, Discipline, Culture, Codes and Conduct of the institutes. 

Session 1

Personality Development 

Mr. Mahendra Surana, IAS secretary to Govt. Dpt.of Employee initiated his session on ‘Personality Development’ by quoting ‘Individually we are the best in the world but collectively we are the worst’. Sir bolstered his session with various informative stories, Parables and examples of day-to-day life. Defining Personality he said that, ‘it is not what we are but what we feel we are’. It includes influencing people with your spark

He also highlighted that personality is the dynamic organization within an individual of those psychological systems that determines his or her behavior and thoughts.

Mr. Surana left the participants with wonderful words like:

Life + Desire= Man

Life – Desire= God

Life + Burning Desire= Superman.

 

He ended the session on mesmerizing note.

 

Session 2

Principles and Practices of Management 

Mr. Rakesh Shala, Head Customer Relation, Hutch in his highly interactive session elucidated students about the management principles with the example of election and Pulse Polio Programme. He advised participants to have a clear purpose for every task to be a good manager.

He ended the session on a note ‘Successful people see opportunities and react to them”

 

Session 3

Excellent Professional Traits 

Mrs. Tanjul Saxena, Management Development Academy session’s was corroborated by various thought provoking stories and real life incidents as exemplifies to learn from. Mam emphasize on various professional traits, as – taking initiatives, keeping your senses open, creative, technical up gradation, personal efficiency and self-management.

She stressed on concentration on objectives as an essential element for success Mrs. Saxena ended on a high note by emphasizing the compatibility between capability and targets.


Day 3 

Session 1

Industry’s Expectations from Managers and Technocrats 

 

The Third day of the orientation programme began with the session of Mr. Mohit Arolkar, Assistant Vice President, Genpact on ‘Industry’s Expectations from Managers and Technocrats’. Sir metaphorically compared the corporate world withjungle where people fight ferociously to acquire the top notch.

He stressed on incessantly running to survive and sustain in today’s highly competitive world. Mr. Arolkar also highlighted knowledge of job, effective communication and people management skills as the stepping stones to success.

Sir ended the interactive session by answering to the queries of students. He motivated them to inculcate a winning attitude and showed them the bright side of the corporate world. 

Session 2

Effective Public Speaking Skills 

Mr. Deepak Mahaan, is a renowned documentary film Director. Sir to his credit has directed various films like Behind The Glitter, Sabak, Jyotirmoyee Devi, The wonder Foot and Limb to name a few.

Mr. Mahaan in his highly enriching session offered numerous practical tips for developing the right attitude and inculcating effective approach to work. He elucidated students with various handy suggestions to improve their pronunciation, communication, dressing sense, body language and attitude.

Mr. Deepak Mahaan had an interactive session answering queries of the audience. Sir ended on a high note mesmerizing the audience. It was an innovative session with symphony.  

Session3

Business Etiquettes – a pre-requisite Business Skill 

Mr. H.C. Chopra a renowned academician initiated his session on ‘Business Etiquettes’ by acquainting the students with the mannerisms and attributes that a manager should possess.

Sir stressed on the significance of being creative, to accept change and newness, to be willing to play with ideas and possibilities and to have a flexible outlook, the habit of enjoying the good while looking for ways to improve, to achieve success. In his encouraging tone he enlightened the participants on how one can receive more and give more in life by managing the way one thinks.

 He discussed and interacted with students on the various current and future economic trends along with the growth factor affecting Indian economy.

The session was interactive and ended on an inspirational note.


Day 4

Session1

Creativity

The fourth day of the orientation week commenced with the guest lecture by Col. R. B. Khanna a renowned personality from the field of management on the topic “Creativity”. He pleaded the students to think beyond fixations and open there mind for creativity. Sir, defined creativity as the ability to think fast, generating new ideas and dealing with problems in an efficient manner.

Mr. Khanna threw light on the components of creativity, factors that inhibit creativity and ingredients of creativity process. Sir elucidated creative problem solving with the help of various interesting conundrums and gave the tools and techniques of creativity expansion. At the end of the session, Sir shared real life experiences with the students to drive home with the idea.

Session2

Strategies for Successful Marketing Management

Dr. Himmat Singh, Managing Director, Reliance Dairy, initiated his session on ‘Strategies for Successful Marketing Management’, by elucidating budding managers with the insight of various organizations market strategies.

Sir took the example of Dairy industry to explain the various business policies and intimated students about the process of milk procurement, business cycle in villages, corporate pattern and milk pricing.

Handling queries of the inquisitive students he concluded by saying that future for business lies in villages and not in towns.


Day 5

Session 1

Personal Effectiveness for Professional Success

Prof. Ramesh Arora, Director, Management Development Academy in his highly motivating session on “Personal Effectiveness for Professional Success”, initiated by Highlighting the issues, which are lacking in today’s management student.

 Sir drew the audience attention on significant attributes like Time Management, Stress Management Procrastination, Decision Making and Productive Thinking to enrich the students to inculcate self management and discipline.

Mr. Arora also encouraged the participants to grow by constantly upgrading their knowledge according to the requirement of market.

He discussed and interacted with students on the various current and future prerequisite of corporate world.

 

Session 2

Excellence in management and IT Education

 

A highly informative session on ‘Excellence in management and IT Education’ by an eminent personality Dr. Raghuveer Singh, Director NCR, University of Petroleum & Energy Studies was initiated by illuminating students about the various insights of Information Technology Management.

Sir through a well designed model explained the audience about the significance of communication, analytical, inter-personal, and decision making skills in today’s competitive scenario.

Dr. Raghuveer Singh also emphasized on Six W’s – What, Why, When, How, Who and Where as an important tool to acquire solution to several queries of Human Mind.

 

Session 3

Improving Communication Skill

 

Dr. K.K. Gautam, a renowned academician initiated his session on Improving Communication Skill by illustrating participants about Cognitive & Affective as the two essential functions of communication. A single sentence, “who is talking to whom, why, how, where and when” speaks of all aspects of communication.

He also advised student to learn the art of understanding and analyzing the unsaid communication i.e. what has not been spoken by the speaker.

 

Sir also intimated that in present context communication has become a looping process which is continuous and also aims at pragmatics of communication not only the grammar or semantics.

 

 

 

Session 4

Effective Corporate Personality

 

Mr. C.K. Sharma, an IIM Ahemdabad Alumnus and a renowned Management consultant and corporate Trainer addressed the students on effective corporate personality.

He stressed on four key attributes for success in Business World – Quality Reading, Creative Writing, eloquent expression and patient listening.

 

 He urged the students to enhance their worth in job market by focusing on communication skills and over all ‘Phonetics’ Appealing personality development.

 The students were deeply enriched and inspired by his real life corporate experiences.
