A one-day
workshop on “Understanding misunderstanding “, was organized at
IIIM Auditorium, on
January 25, 2007.
Management Guru, Professor M. M. Monippally, Chairperson,
Communication Area, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, was the
resource person for the workshop.
The workshop was organized to hone up the
communication skills of the budding managers and acquaint them about the
pitfalls & barriers in effective communication. Prof. Monippally
initiated his enriching session by encouraging the students to dream big
and motivated them not to refrain from taking risks. He opined failures
as the “pillars to success”.
He described communication model as “a
messy inferential process” – inference, he said, is based on clues –
verbal and non-verbal. Further Prof. Monippally discussed the ways and
means to reduce misunderstanding by citing practical evidences and
interesting exercises.
The session successfully fulfilled the
objective of adding value to the existing curriculum and overall
development of personality of the budding managers. |
