ORIENTATION 2006 |

|
The
MCA programme at IIIM received tremendous response this year with
meritorious students opting to pursue the degree. The programme is
specifically designed to hone the skills of graduates from different
streams to enable them to handle intricacies of programming and software
development work.
On the first day
of the workshop, the newly admitted candidates were welcomed warmly by
Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director, IIIM. He thanked the students for choosing
the institute and assured them that no stone would be left unturned to
empower them to be successful IT Professionals. On behalf of the entire
faculty, he expressed the hope that the new entrants would bring glory
to the institute with their dedication and honesty of purpose. Through a
well-compiled presentation the freshers were introduced to the world of
IIIM and its sister institutions. They were offered the first glimpse
into the world of IT with an excellently scripted CD presentation
filling them with a sense of reverence and awe for the sector where
their future would take shape.
The new students, then, introduced themselves, sharing with
their new family their hopes, aspirations and dreams. Enthusiastic
support from faculty and senior students made it a very enjoyable and
memorable day for the freshers.

THE SECOND DAY of
“Parichaya 2006” began with an interactive session by
Ms Swati V. Chande, professor, IIIM who briefed the freshers
about the traditional values being followed in the institute .She
acquainted them with the bond between the juniors and the seniors &
finally discussed the IT corporate environment and the placement
scenario.
This
session was followed by Ms Swati Pareek lecturer, IIIM on computer
organization.She
acquainted the students with fundamentals of computer organization.
The
day culminated with an interactive session by Gp captain Manoj Kumar,
placement officer & senior lecturer IIIM .He discussed the current
placement scenario and
emphasized on improving communication skills .He also shared with
freshers the latest IT trends and various developments in the IT sector.

The Third day of orientation
workshop for the newly admitted MCA students commenced with an
informative lecture by Mr. Anil Singh, Executive Director, RajComp.He
discussed about the industry expectations from IT professionals and
explained various IT initiatives of the Government of Rajasthan during
the past few decades.
Continuing
with the IT theme, in the next session Dr. Ashok Nagawat Deputy
Director, Center for Converging Technologies, Coordinator-Infonet Center
and Deputy Director, Centre for Development of Physics Education,
University of Rajasthan enriched the freshers with the emerging trends
in technology .He briefed the students about the evolution of
nanotechnology. Dr. Nagawat very enthusiastically answered the queries
of the inquisitive freshers.
The
day ended with a presentation on “Graph theory” by Ms. Archana
Sharma, Assistant Professor, IIIM .She introduced the students with the
importance of graph theory and its applications in computer science.

On
the fourth day of workshop
being conducted for the newly admitted students of the MCA programme of
IIIM began with an interactive session of Mr. Pankaj Sharma, Director,
Extensible Solutions. He introduced the students with the latest
technology of window mobile.
Thereafter,
Prof. Ramesh K. Arora, Professor, Head and Dean, University of Rajasthan
emphasized on developing excellent and extraordinary communication
skills so as to leave everlasting impact on the listener. He said
“Destiny is a product of our action but we can reshape it”.
The
day was concluded by Mr. Vijay Gupta, Senior Lecturer, IIIM. He enhanced
the knowledge of the students about the computer labs of IIIM. He
acquainted the students with the importance of networking in the day to
day life. He introduced the exciting world of internet to the new
entrants and made them aware of increasing importance of networking and
its components.

The
fifth day of the orientation was highly enthusiastic and motivating
for the new students. The day began with the encouraging lecture by Mr.
Vijay Singh Rathore, Asst. professor, IIIM. He discussed the basic
concepts of programming languages and explained how to develop more
effective programmes.
This
was followed by a session by Mr. Pramod Agarwal, Joint Director, JDA. He
discussed wireless networking paradigm and thus acquainted the students
with the wireless world.
The
day ended with an inspiring address by Ms. Swati V. Chande, Professor
& Principal (MCA), IIIM, She highlighted the future focus areas in
IT and current strengths and weaknesses of the IT industry. .
