MBA
ORIENTATION 2006 |

Master's
degree in business administration continues to be a popular career
option amongst students graduating from different streams. The
increasing reputation of the programme has attracted students from
diverse backgrounds to aspire for admission into a B-school. This has
perhaps enriched the quality to the students taking management courses
but has made the task of educators more challenging. Minds trained in
different disciplines have to be brought to a common platform and taught
various courses of management that are more general than specialist in
nature.
IIIM
hence is organizing a weeklong orientation programme for the fresh batch
of MBA students, Parichay 2006. This year IIIM welcomes its first batch
of 120 MBA aspirants, Parichay is special. On
the first day of the
orientation workshop, the freshers were introduced to the institution
profile, infrastructure, faculty members and the exciting world of
management through slide presentations. IIIM and its sister
organizations were kept in the limelight so as to acquaint the young
IIIMites with their work-culture and the achievements of the same. Dr.
Ashok Gupta, Director IIIM, while addressing the newcomers, showed great
faith that the students will soon realize their decision of choosing
IIIM proving to be a fruitful one. He said that the institute offers a
right blend of traditional and modern cultural, academic and
professional opportunities for overall development. He expressed
confidence that the MBA programme at IIIM will turn their lives in right
direction and that this new connection will contribute towards
furthering the objectives of the institution. The programme for the day
one concluded with an inspiring lecture by Prof. Ramesh Arora who
discussed the guideposts to success. He emphasized the importance of
positive attitudes, idea group and soft skills for success in the
management field.
A walk through the campus with the exited seniors facilitated juniors in
experiencing the warmth in the IIIM family & environment.

host of queries by the freshers regarding the institution and the
facilities offered. The day acquainted the students with the changing
dimensions and future challenges emerging in Indian economy. The
students were addressed by noted documentary film maker and commentator
Mr. Deepak Mahan. He encouraged the students to develop an innovative
mindset to find new solutions to problems rather than fitting the old
solutions to new problems. Keeping in view the fiercely competitive
environment of today’s world, Mr. Rajesh Kothari, Dean, R.A. Podar
