‘Virasat– 2010’ Annual Function at ICG
The 15th Annual day of ICG
was celebrated in full vigour on the 25th of February,
2010 in the ICG lawns. The title and the Theme of the Programme was
Virasat– 2010. It was a wonderful synchronization of the
Classical and the Modern, the Indian and the Western. Full of vigour
and enthusiasm, the students of the college presented a beautiful
cultural extravaganza incorporating foot tapping dances, music,
rhythm and fashion show that left the audience enthralled.
Ms. Renuka Chowdhury, Former Minister
for Women and Child Development, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest for the occasion while
Maharani Padmini Devi of Jaipur graced the occasion as the
Guest of Honour.
Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director of
the Institution formally welcomed the guests and acquainted them
with the achievements of the students and faculty in the session
2008-09. Dr. Gupta expressed pride on the feat ICG has achieved in a
short span of 14 years.
Speaking on the occasion, Renuka
Chowdhury appreciated the talent and enthusiasm of the students. She
emphasized on the importance of education but education according to
her meant all round development of human personality and not just
the attainment of degrees. She added that it was fortunate to be
Indian & young and expressed hope that the young students of ICG
would contribute to the growth of their institution, society and
above all their nation.
The other two guests in their address
to the students congratulated them for their beautiful performances
and wished them good luck in their future endeavours. The programme
began in traditional fervour by the invoking of divine spirits- the
Vandana which was presented as Ganesha Vandan in Classical form.
This was followed by a variety of dances depicting the diverse
regions and cultural heritage of India like Folk dance as Kesaria
Baalam, Ghumar, Panihari, Kathak Jugalbandi, Arabic Prayer Kandisa.,
Western dances, Fusion and Choreography etc.
The fashion show – ‘The Fashion
Fiesta’ exhibiting the creative and designer costumes
indigenously designed by the students and faculty of GPEM, Fashion &
Textile Technology and Jewellery Department of the College were
captivating. In the 3 different rounds of the Fashion Show,
beautiful attires based on the themes of Cocktail, Casino Royale and
Traditional were exhibited by charming models of the college.
The CD presentation – Reminiscences –
gave a quick glimpse of the various activities held in the College
throughout the year. The Academic toppers as well as achievers in
various cultural and sports activities were awarded on the occasion.
In the Special Awards Category, Head Girl Harshini Lata Shekhawat
and Somya Jain declared as ICGian of the year,
Ms. Sheetal Chitalangia got the
title of Blooming Star of ICG, Ms. Parul Jaiman and Pratibha
Rathore got the title of Service above Self, Chandana
Nirvaan was declared Debater of the Year. Ms. Surbhi
Mishra was awarded for Outstanding Performance in International
Sports. Ms Sonam Bansal got the Pragya Dwivedi Memorial Award
for scoring highest marks in the Psychology in the memory of Late
Pragya Dwivedi, Lecturer in the Department of Psychology.
The programme was a success and
everybody enjoyed and appreciated the excellent presentation put up
by the young ladies of ICG. |
