The 13th Annual
day of ICG was celebrated in full vigour on the 5th of
January, 2008 in the ICG lawns. The theme of the programme was
Cosmos– 2009. It was a wonderful synchronization of the classical
and the modern, forms of Dance and Music. Full of vigour and
enthusiasm, the students of the college presented a beautiful cultural
extravaganza incorporating foot tapping dances, music, rhythm and
fashion show that left the audience enthralled.
Ms. Bina Kaak, Minister for
Tourism, Art and Culture, Women and Child Development, Rajasthan was the
Chief Guest for the occasion while the bloom of Bengali Cinema Ms. Koel
Mullick graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
Dr. Ashok
Gupta, Director of the Institution formally welcomed the guests and
acquainted them with the achievements of the students and faculty in the
session 2007-08. Dr. Gupta apprised the students and the parents about
the grant of a Deemed-to-be-a-University Status to ICG by UGC, effective
from 2009-10.
Speaking on the occasion,
Ms. Bina Kaak appreciated the talent and enthusiasm of the students. She
emphasized on all round development of human personality and not just
the attainment of degrees. She added that youth should take pride in
being Indian and expressed hope that the young students of ICG would
contribute to the growth of their institution, society and above all
their country. Ms. Koel in her address to the students congratulated
them for their captivating performances. She blessed the students and
wished them good luck for their future endeavours.
The programme began in
traditional fervour by the invoking the divine spirits- the Vandana
which was presented in the form of Krishna Stuti. This was followed by a
variety of dances like Gangaur pujan, Kathak Jugalbandi, sufi theme
based dance, and western dance like salsa, choreography-rhythm of
seasons and phoenix etc.
The fashion show – “Fashion
Fiesta” exhibiting the handloom and eco friendly costumes indigenously
designed by the students and faculty of the college were captivating. In
the jewellery round of the fashion show, beautiful jewellery and
ornaments of foil, tissue paper, nuts etc. were exhibited.
Reminiscences – gave a quick
glimpse of the various activities held in the College throughout the
year.
The academic toppers as well
as achievers in various cultural and sports activities were awarded on
the occasion. Head Girl Tanvi Srivastava was declared as ICGian of the
year, Shanu Shukla got the title of ICGian genius 2008, Vanshika Mathur
got ‘talent of the year’ title and Trisha Mukherjee was selected as
‘Voice of the year’.
The programme was a success
and everybody enjoyed and appreciated the excellent presentation put up
by the students of ICG. |
