Yoga is a part of the ancient cultural heritage of
India. It has been accepted by all schools of thought as an absolute
sign of final achievements in life. Proving the same, yoga classes were
held for the students of grade VI, VII and VIII as prescribed by the
CBSE under the CCE system.
‘A healthy and fit person is an asset to humanity’, therefore, a brief
introduction about the benefits of being healthy and active was given to
the students. The students were taught some exercises which relax the
body and the following aasanas- Tadasana, Chakraasan, Kati- chakraasan,
Surya-Namaskar, Padmasana and Shavasan.
At the end of the three day programme, the children understood the
advantages of the indigenous exercises. Physical fitness is one of our
richest possessions, it cannot be purchased and has to be earned through
a daily routine of physical exercises. It has been rightly said that,
“Life is a flower in which health is honey.” |
