Before the advent of the new session, the students of the junior wing of IIS went on fun and frolic round i.e. they went on a day’s excursion to Delhi by Air Kingfisher. The officials in the flight were very hospitable and went to the extent of letting the children go into the cockpit and showed them around. There were around 34 bubbling children of Class III on the first day, followed by 42 students of Class IV on the next day and 48 students of Class V on the last day. They were served snacks and soft drinks in the air. On reaching Delhi, their first destination was Raj Ghat where the children paid homage to the ‘Father of the Nation.’ Thereafter the children sat in the metro for a short ride. The children were very excited and bursting with energy. To add to their fervour McDoanld’s Combo meal was served to them. Then came the most awaited visit to the Rashtrapati Bhawan and Mughal Garden, where they saw the flowers in full bloom. Children saw a variety of flowers, beautifully cut out shrubs and lush green lawns. The Ashoka hall which has witnessed so many glittering events was shown to the students by a guide. When children were told about their next visit to the world’s tallest minaret, they were enthusiastic and looking forward to it. They were also shown and given detailed information about Ashoka’s Pillar. Then started the homeward journey by Volvo with a stopover at Haldiram’s at Gurgaon for dinner which was sumptuous and mouth watering. By now the children were all exhausted and sleepy. They returned after midnight to school where their eager parents were waiting to welcome them back. |
