In synchronization with the call of the Chief Minister, Mr Ashok Gehlot for a ‘Harit Rajasthan’, it was apt to encourage the students to plant more and more trees. He reminded the students that it was in Rajasthan that the ‘Chipko Movement’ was begun by the Bishnoi clan almost 260 years ago when they laid down their lives to save trees. “Forests are biodiversity hotspots” said Mr Bahuguna. “Loss of diversity will lead to a loss of ecological stability.” He told the students that they should work towards creating a world that is free of the fear of war, pollution and degradation of the environment. Afterall, it is their future that is at stake .They should actively initiate the conservation of forests at their personal level. Even a small step makes a big difference. The basic idea of the visit was the promotion of environment related activities amongst the school students. |
