MY VISIT TO JAPAN |
|
BY YASH KAUSHIK Friday, March 20, 20009 was a great day for me. That day I got the news that I had been selected to visit Japan under the JENESYS programme. 137 students from all over India assembled in Delhi and were divided into 7 groups. Our journey to Japan began on 15 June 2009. I was filled with excitement, anxiety and eagerness to visit a new country. We reached Japan on 16 June and were put up at the Asakusa View hotel in Tokyo. We went to the Indian Embassy in the evening. The next few days were spent in becoming familiar with the country and its people. We went for sight seeing to various places such as Hiroshima, Miyazenia Island, Akhibara, Tokyo Edo museum. Our visit to the Peace Memorial Park was very poignant. It has the Flame of Peace in memory of the children who died in the first atom bomb attack. I enjoyed being with my Japanese friends from Todo and Komo High Schools. We attended the classes, both academic and craft. We also had a taste of Japanese food. Our stay with the Japanese host families acquainted us with the Japanese culture and life style. I will never forget this memorable visit. |
