IIS WINS INTER SCHOOL DEBATE |

The regional round of the 12th DR. Mahbub ul Haq Memorial Inter School Debate was held on 12 September 2009. The debate is organized by Rajiv Gandhi Institute of contemporary Studies and Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in association with UNDP. India International School hosted the debate for the 5th consecutive year. Students from various schools very effectively put forward their views on the topic “Act Now to Reduce Global Warming. Poor Women have a greater stake.” Global warming transcends geographical and political borders and does not distinguish between nations or people. However stakes are unfortunately high for developing nations argued one of the participants. It was an apt platform that gave the participants to put forth their concern because it is not an issue of the future. It is affecting us here and now. Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director and Principal, IIS- Jaipur announced the winners and the judges gave away the prizes. The first prize was bagged by IIS, Jaipur. The participants Shreya Deora and Aarti Bhalla, both of Grade XI also won the best speaker’s prize, for and against, both, in that order. They both will represent Rajasthan in the National Debate to be held in Delhi on 21 October 2009.
