GERMAN INDIAN STUDENTS EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

Indian Students Visit to Germany from 26 June 2009 to 12 July 2009

Six girls and one boy along with the escort teacher went to Germany at the invitation of Johannes Keppler Gymnasium, Stuggart from 26 June 2009 to 12 July 2009. A warm welcome was extended to us by the German students with music and then we went for a round of the school, attended music, dance, computer and English classes. The Indian students gave a presentation on India. The Germans were really amazed at the colours and the costumes. When we showed our school picture they exclaimed “Is your school  run in a Fort?” One of the students stayed at Weissach-in-tap about 45 minutes drive from Stuggart. This was a little modern school with high tech laboratories and big gardens. Almost every day we went out on trips. We visited the old town Heidelburg, Ludiesburg, the T.V. tower, City Centre, Zoo, the Black Forest, Austria France border, and Strrausberg. We found Germany to be very neat and clean. All buildings are well maintained and even very old buildings, more then 500–1000 years old, have been maintained well. Germans are very punctual. The students are very independent at home as well as at school. The Germans were impressed with the Mathematical Calculations of our students.

A get together was organized for all the Indian and German students on the 25th which started with a ‘hawan’ followed by a dance where they witnessed the coming together of traditional and modern culture. The students were impressed by the assembly, the Diwali celebrations and everything came to a joyous end with the cultural programme presented by the Germans. The Germans danced on a Lagaan number and sang a Hindi song.
