BOYS’ TOUR TO AMRITSAR AND HIMACHAL PRAESH

A group of 72 boys escorted by four teachers went for the Annual School Tour to Amritsar, Dharamsala and Dalhousie from 25 March to 3 April 2009. It was a wonderful experience to visit the Golden Temple, Jalliawala bagh and Waagah Border in Amritsar. Dharamsala was a unique experience for the whole group as it was extremely cold. The Tsuglagkhang Complex, the official residence of Dalai Lama which is also the main Buddhist Monsatry seemed to be a heavenly abode. Dal Lake, Talnu & Bhagsunath Temple were some other points which all the students enjoyed. Palampur – a hilly town in Kangra District which is famous for its picturesque landscapes, snow clad mountains and the tea gardens was also greatly enjoyed by the whole group.

DalhousIe – a very small hill station was very beautiful with its breathtaking view of the snow capped Himalayas forming a semicircle around it. Students enjoyed walking the mountainous terrain where the lovely view seemed to follow them everywhere they went.

Half day tour to Khajjiar 30 km away from Dalhousie was a welcome idea for everyone. It is a saucer shaped meadow, surrounded by pine trees. It was just perfect for the students to have their day out and they all enjoyed playing cricket there. The ten day tour seemed to come to an unexpected end when the whole group reached Amritsar for the return journey.
