Substitution Reaction and Metallation

Department of Chemistry, ICG, organized a Guest Lecture on Substitution reaction and metallation on the 26th of February, 2008 in the AV Hall. The resource person was Dr.Jacques Mortier, Professor of Chemistry in the University of De Mannes , France.

 Dr.Mortier talked at length about electrophilic substitution and metallation reactions and created a firm base on the topic. He introduced the concept to the audience with the very basic concept of electrophilic substituition on aromatic substrates. He further dealt with the importance of metallation in inhancing the reaction rates in electrophilic substitution.

He showed some transparencies giving informative about university of De Mannes along with environmental conditions and important sights to be seen their. The lecture was very informative for all U.G and P.G students of chemistry department as well as to the faculty members.
