04 October, 2017

Dear Parent,

Once again we are back to share a strategy with you to further strengthen the school systems and make it more safe and secure, for which we seek your cooperation. Please note w.e.f. 10th October, 2017:

-       the school gate will remain closed from 07:35 a.m. to 01:25 p.m. During this time in case you come to drop your ward (late arrival) don’t leave them outside. Drop them till the reception (for which you need to have the Parent ID Card, please)

-       parents coming to school to pick or drop their ward in their own vehicle can bring the vehicle inside only till the Yellow Line. Beyond that parents need to come on foot (with Parent ID Card) to pick their ward.

-       we discourage the students to reach before 07:00 a.m. (unless specified in writing by the teacher). In case they reach early we will keep them inside near the reception or staircase near the school lawns. We will prefer that they enter the school building after the teacher arrives at 07:15 a.m.

-       we also plan to have a Book Store Counter for the parents near Gate No. 1.

IIS wishes you all a very happy and prosperous Diwali.

With warm regards,

Mala Agnihotri

16th September, 2017

Dear Parents,

Once again we are back with some more valuable information on Careful Usage of Technology. Technology has become an inseparable part of our lives. Children of today have access to a variety of online sources of information, socialization and entertainment. With sites such as You Tube, Facebook, Twitter, online games and other Internet web sites, people can interact with others without the need to be in the area

With the increase in online usage of children, the problems of cyberbullying, cyberstalking, defaming, child exploitation, online games and more have become more prominent. Because of these problems, parents and children must be aware of the potential dangers and what to look for while online

IIS community puts in another effort to guide our students. We request the parent community to monitor their ward very closely. You may find the following guidelines useful for your ward.

1.    Talk to your children about what they do on the Internet. Discuss with children what can happen on the internet. Open communication is the best defence against online games and threats.

2.    Donot give IOS or android phone to your child. Give mobile that supports basic operations like making/receiving of calls and messaging at the most. Providing internet on mobile phone is not necessary at all. A child’s brain is too sensitive to withstand the effects of mobile radiation.

3.    Use firewalls to block offensive sites

4.    Donot allow children to install apps on mobile.

5.    Donot allow children to have account on any social networking sites like facebook, twitter, etc.  This may give lot of stress to children. They can be victim of online predators, cyber bullying, defaming, etc. Following are the warning signs of the same

a.    Switching screens or closing programs when you walk by

b.    Using the computer late at night

c.    Getting upset if he/she cannot use the computer

d.    Using multiple online accounts or an account that belongs to someone else

e.    Feeling sick or dull after use of internet/ social websites

6.    Educate yourself about latest technology and trends

7.    Keep a track on sites they are exploring through history option of webbrowser

8.    Train your children not to give out personal information about any member of the family.Train your children to preserve family’s privacy.

9.    Go through the privacy controls of all websites or online services your child uses to ensure settings are safe.

10. Steer children away from Chat rooms, Watsapp, Hike, Instagram, Snapchat etc. before they are part of any chat room, they must participate these activities with your consent.

11. Check out software or services like ones from your ISP that filter out offensive material. Use your operating system’s parental controls.

12. Maintain access to your child’s online accounts and  emails.

13. Have access to login credentials( Username and password )on laptop or PC they login with.

14. Make Children using the Internet to work in highly visible areas of home.

15. Insist your child for outdoor games instead of online games

16. Donot allow your child to use your mobile in isolation or during night.

17. You may create a family agreement for internet and mobile usage, including when it can be used and which sites can or cannot be accessed.

Children and their lives are precious and we all need to nurture it

Thanks and regards

01 September, 2017

Dear Parent,

It’s almost the mid term now and I am sure your ward is busy with academic rigour and other school activities.

We felt that it is important to share this important information with you all. You are all aware how important it is to empower our children to use the social network sites responsibly and with caution.

The latest issue which poses a serious threat to our children is the self destructive game– The Blue Whale Challenge.

Your child probably knows about the Blue Whale Challenge because of the media frenzy around this issue. It is important for all of us to be very vigilant so that our children do not fall prey to cyber predators who often target innocent children.

Most child psychologists opine that when a child tends to stay by himself/herself, stops interacting with family and friends, often talks about running away from home or even death, or changes eating and/or sleeping habits, the child must be given special attention. These are the basic symptoms of a child who may be inclined towards participating in this online game.

Also please make children aware not To click the link naming "popcorn carnival".Its the hidden link for the blue whale game.

Although the government has asked companies such as Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Microsoft and Yahoo to immediately take down any links leading to the deadly game, it is unclear how these companies would make the game inaccessible. It is because this game is not publicly available and freely downloadable, it has become a social media phenomenon where conversations about this take place secretively in closed social media groups. You can only be part of the game if an administrator contacts you and enlists you as a potential ‘whale’, or candidate.

Further, it is now available under different names such as ‘A Silent House’, ‘A Sea of Whales’ and ‘Wake Me Up at 4:20 AM.’ There could be other similar games available as well.

I am sure that some vigilance from our side can help in keeping our children safe. Most importantly, let us always keep the lines of communication open with our children.

LETS BE MORE VIGILANT and communicate with our children to empower them to be safe and happy

Regards,

Mala Agnihotri

Dear Parent,

I hope that by now your ward is well settled after the session started in April, 2017. And I am sure that from time to time you are also monitoring and helping your ward in the process.

For rest of the students of grade XII, Saturdays may be used for self study or for clearing their doubts with the teachers from 07:35 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. as decided and agreed mutually, in advance.

The details of the schedule for Saturdays has been posted on the school website.

We solicit your kind cooperation in the matter, as always.
